ColostOferrin is a combination of bovine colostrum, vitamin C, lactoferrin, arabinogalactan, and a proprietary blend of immune-enhancing prebiotic fructooligosaccahride (FOS) and probiotic acidophilus.  ColostOferrin provides 500 mg bovine colostrum from cattle raised without hormone treatment and in conditions free of bovine  spongiform encephalopathy.  In addition to bovine colostrum, ColostOferrin contains lactoferrin, vitamin C, and arabinogalactan.  These ingredients are also important for the functioning of the immune system and for optimal health.

After giving birth, a mother's body produces a special immune and growth promoting substance that is secreted into her milk.  This fluid is produced for only the first 24-48 hours after giving birth, and is called colostrum.  This special "pre-milk" is integral in providing a wide range of antiviral, antibacterial, immunoligical and growth promoting factors to the offspring. These factors include immunoglobins, transforming growth factors, and other compounds important to the health of the newborn.

How much ColostOferrin should I take?
Are there specific instructions for optimal benefits?

Yes!  Colostrum is mostly proteins which are designed to pass through the stomach and be released in the small intestines.  Colostrum contains inhibitors which block the digestion of of proteins so that they can make their way to the intestines intact.  It is best taken alone and on an empty stomach with a large glass of water.  Food in the intestinal tract may compete with the colostrum for available binding sites in the intestines.  Most people take it first thing in the morning and then again later in the day several hours after the noon meal. It is best not to eat for 30 minutes to allow the colostrum to pass into the system unimpeded.

Is colostrum from other countries as good as what is available in this country?

Most quality brands of colostrum are currently produced in the United States.
